What will the apprentice be doing?

  • 4 days per week based in the office or onsite with 1 day study leave to attend university.
  • Assisting in pre contract activities, such as working on cost plans, estimates and tenders. This would include measuring, estimating and budget building using software and traditional methods.
  • Cost management and control of projects onsite, including valuations, variations, contract particulars and contract administration.
  • Attending design and site meetings with principal and senior members of staff.
  • Support and guidance from previous apprentices within the firm as well as from other members of staff.
  • Contributing to project teams and communicating on project outcomes to the business and clients.
  • Working towards the apprenticeship route for APC to become a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.
  • Having fun :)

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The candidate will obtain a Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management.

Training will be on the job in the office/onsite four days per week. Formal training will be at an agreed recognised university of choice one day a week.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Candidate can progress to Assistant Surveyor, Surveyor and Senior Surveyor.
