What will the apprentice be doing?

At Market Taverns, no training is required, but a good attitude is essential. Punctuality and attention to detail is a must. Must be able to work as part of a team, take instruction and apply new skills. Enthusiasm and reliability are very important. We are looking for people who have a passion for food and are committed to learning.

Day to day you will:

Be working closely with an experienced chef.
Required to complete cleaning of sections within the kitchen.
Preparation of ingredients and food menu items.
Assist with stock management.

You will learn:

Knife skills
Team working skills
Fish/meat/veg prep
Line cooking
Time management skills

Level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship Functional Skills in Maths and English (if required) Knife Skills Teamwork Fish, Meat and Veg Prep Line Cooking Stock Control Stock Management.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Once the training has been completed a full time position in the role will be yours. We also hope to progress your training further to give you the opportunity to step up to a management role as the company evolves. We offer further training through companies such as Watershed in management skills for kitchen staff. We also offer Food Safety Training, Health and Safety Training and HR training. Skills such as stock management, ordering, staff management will all be gained as you grow and complete your training..

There is a small management team and the company ethos is to allow as much freedom as possible for the staff on site to manage their areas of responsibility.
