Vehicle Technician Apprentice Cheshire Constabulary

Based at Cheshire Constabulary Headquarters in Winsford, we are looking for a Vehicle Technician Apprentice to start their learning journey with us. They will be training to become a qualified Vehicle Technician. The role involves both on and off the site learning. The offsite element will be block release with an external training provider.

What will the apprentice be doing?

  • You will be working on cars and vans including large vans.
  • Become adept at servicing and repairs working towards building good diagnostic skills.
  • The role will also involves learning on Police emergency electrical equipment as this is an integral part of the work of a fully skilled Police Vehicle Technician. 

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Completion of the Standard will gain the successful applicant a certification of the Level 3 Motor vehicle service and maintenance technician (light vehicle)
  • IMI level 3 Qualification in Light Vehicle Repair
  • You will be required to travel to Derby for the block release periods for which you will be reimbursed. The Derby site has excellent rail links.
  • You will stay in accommodation local to the training centre the cost of which will be covered by the employer. 
  • Transport will be provided to and from hotels and training centre at no cost to the applicant. 

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

  • The Vehicle Technician Apprenticeship will equip you with the key building blocks from which you can continue your learning and experience journey building towards a vehicle repair and maintenance skills career as a Vehicle Technician and possibly onwards to Senior or Master Technician. 
  • Professional Recognition - recognised by relevant Professional Engineering Institutions. Successful apprentices can apply for the appropriate level of professional registration (EngTech).
