What will the apprentice be doing?
- Travel and visit the different properties around the Park to ensure day-to-day repair and maintenance tasks are completed in a timely and satisfactory manner.
- Assist with both reactive and proactive repair, and maintenance tasks, to a high standard, on any of the Authorities property portfolio, which (where possible) could include:
o Joinery work
o Painting and decorating
o Grounds maintenance
o Basic plumbing work
o Gutter clearing
- On occasion, work with the Ranger service with car park litter picking and to manufacture and fit outdoor woodwork (to include signs, bridges, etc.) for the Authority's properties and public rights of way.
- Assist with obtaining quotes from contractors and help with project planning, to support financial decision making.
- Administration tasks such as managing the maintenance email account, raising purchase orders, ordering stock and monitoring the cleaners.
- Utilise the Facilities Management (FM) helpdesk software to monitor and action all maintenance requests.
- Assist with Health & Safety compliance at certain properties to include water monitoring, fire safety checks, updating COSHH folders with new items, helping with undertaking risk assessments and monitoring the online Service portal (Concerto).
- Assist in the co-ordination and communication of major works in Authority buildings to ensure minimum disruption.
- Learn how to work independently, and, at times, use own initiative to carry out all works to the safest and highest standard possible whilst maintaining efficiency.
- Take a proactive approach to all aspects of the role and assist the Estates team to minimise disruption, promote efficient running of the buildings and minimise expenditure.
- Assist with the day to day running of the Grassington workshop, including cleaning down and oiling machinery, inspecting equipment, health and safety, general security and tidiness of the premises and yard.
- Comply with the Authority’s Health and Safety Policy and Codes of Safe Working Practice.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- Property Maintenance Operative (PMO) - Level 2
- The training will be carried out on site and the Trainer will visit you in the workplace and some meetings may be held over Teams.
