What will the apprentice be doing?

An exciting opportunity to gain insight into the private family law, family mediation and child contact centre industry and work from home in due course. You will learn a first class telephone manner and business communication style that will prepare you to handle a legal or mediation career. You will work closely with the director of the family mediation company, themselves a lawyer often working from their home in Purley CR8. You will also work at the child contact centre in Peckham, London, SE15 on 2 or 3 Saturday mornings per month. Upon completion of initial training of 5-6 months, you will mostly work from home and continue the SE15 work.

  • Opportunity to work from home after successful completion of the intial 4-6 months initial training;
  • Opportunity to do private supervised contact work paid at £20ph;
  • Work alongside lawyers (solicitors & barrister) with possibility of shadowing during own time.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Candidate will secure a Level 3 apprenticeship as a paralegal trained by CILEX
  • The training will take place one day a week remotely at the apprentice's workplace.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

With this qualification, the apprentice will:

  • be able to work as a paralegal at a law firm;

  • will have the opportunity to go on to train as a mediator with the company for the right candidate; and
  • Can go on to work in general business administration as the legal experience provides an excellent platform for general business practice.
