What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Learn how to set and operate CNC machines safety.
  • Learn how to program using Cad or Cam software.
  • Learn how to correctly measure and inspect the parts made to specifications supplied.
  • Identifying materials and their attributes.
  • Identifying cutting tools and understanding how they are used and why.
  • Learn about Health and Safety risks within the workplace.
  • To undertake CNC and engineering tasks allocated by the Team Leader, which are deemed by them to be within your capabilities.
  • To attend West Suffolk College to undertake the apprenticeship qualification

We are looking for apprentices who are passionate about wanting to become a fully skilled CNC programmer or setter once the basic training has been completed. We will support successful apprentices with further qualifications up to degree level.

Things to consider

You will be learning from skilled CNC Programmers or Setters, attention to detail is essential. You will be standing by a machine most of the day and some work can be repetitive. A good understanding of computers would be an advantage.
