What will the apprentice be doing?

  • The apprenticeship involves the machining of current electroplating jigs & fixtures for replacement & stock.
  • To manage the inventory & understand when new jigs are required.
  • To work with the Continuous & Engineering Teams to develop & design new jigs for electroplating working with the elctroplating teams from design ideas through to full application.
  • The candidate will be using precision machinery to required tolerances, , measuring to ensure accuracy within the given tolerances, ability to work with limited supervision once training has been given
  • Work to health and safety guidelines
  • Complete all paperwork required for each task.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

An apprenticeship allows you to earn a wage, gain valuable work experience and industry specific competence. You will be expected to work towards the Engineering Technician Level 3 (Machining Pathway) Apprenticeship Standard, with support from your employer and the Chesterfield College Group.
As part of your apprenticeship, and dependent on your prior attainment, you may be required to complete maths and English Functional Skills which is an integral part of your apprenticeship. Upon successful completion you will be awarded additional certificates of recognition for these qualifications.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

The Electroplating Machinist position is one that we would see develop into a full time integral role within the business.
