What will the apprentice be doing?
As an Apprentice you will:
- work alongside experienced staff
- gain job-specific skills
- earn a wage and get holiday pay
- study towards a related qualification
- Supporting the finance service through the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions and provision of administrative services.
- Validation of financial transactions ensuring compliance with agreed procedures.
- Provide support and work with members of finance and services to mitigate areas of non compliance.
- Support an integrated approach by working across the service as designated.
- To provide support to the finance service in meeting its objectives and in its production and effectively delivery of the financial requirements of the authority.
- Deal efficiently and effectively with enquiries as appropriate.
- Willingness and ability to manage own work and take responsibility for outputs.
Finance is a highly skilled profession, with staff working at many different levels. We have Apprenticeship pathways within Finance so our Apprentices usually start at level 3 and the progress to level 4 then there is a possibility to continue to level 7 Degree Apprenticeships if criteria is met.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
As part of this Apprenticeship you will be working towards a Professional Accountancy Higher Apprenticeship level 4 Standard, the training will take place at work but you will also be required to attend off job training at a local training centre.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
You will be part of Walsall Council Endless Possibilities Apprenticeship programme and will receive information about Progression opportunities within schools and the wider council. Blended working (working from home, office, study) maybe appropriate for these job roles, this will be discussed at interview stage if you are short-listed.
