An Engineering apprenticeship would be based in our Mansfield depot producing steel products for such iconic projects as Hinkley Point Nuclear Plant construction. Engineering here means maintaining, developing and improving machines and kit on a large scale.

What will the apprentice be doing?
From Cranes to bespoke cut and bending machines, as an engineer you will develop competences in maintaining equipment by preventative maintenance through to fault finding and repairing all aspects of the plant within the depot.
Responding quickly, to breakdowns you could be fault finding on an electrical motor one day or installing electrical control circuits and mechanically overhauling a machine on the next.
You will also be involved in Planned Preventative Maintenance.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Full Level 3 Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician apprenticeship standard, including Functional Skills if required.
This programme includes the Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering - Mechatronics Maintenance Tech (Development Competence)
This programme includes the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Technical Knowledge) BTEC Diploma Level 3
This programme is delivered via a day release model at our engineering innovation centre in NG17. Day release is term time only.
You will work with expert assessors to develop new knowledge, skills and behaviours within the profession.
You will experience a blended learning model.
You will gather learning evidence, journals and off-the-job records using your e-portfolio.
At the end of the planned learning period, it will be agreed that you are ready to enter 'Gateway' and for your End Point Assessment to be arranged.
