What will the apprentice be doing?
Main responsibilities will include:
- To develop a broad understanding of the print production process working on state-of-the-art rotary printing presses
- To learn a variety of skills and techniques in order to operate and maintain printing presses for the purpose of producing wash care labels for the fashion industry
- To undertake the apprenticeship training and successfully complete the Level 2 Print Operative Apprenticeship
As an apprentice you will assist the team in the set up and running of the printing press, including but not limited to:
- Feeding print materials into the presses
- Restocking ink levels
- Inputting job data into computerised control units
- Diligently following instructions to ensure the printing presses run effectively with minimal down-time
- Carry out routine machine maintenance
- Learn how to run jobs on new printing presses
- Learn how to prepare plates for press, from design to finished product
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, the qualification obtained will be a Level 2 Print Operative Apprenticeship Standard.
The apprentice will be given sufficient time to undertake their "off-the-job" requirement of the apprenticeship during their working hours.
Throughout your time as an apprentice, you will be supported by both Elite Labels and the BPIF. You will be assigned a training coordinator to ensure that you have the best training available. Training requirements will be discussed at the point of employment to suit your individual needs and business needs. Most training and studying will be a combination of site-based and remote delivery.
