What will the apprentice be doing?

The role will be varied and interesting and involve manufacturing many different products using hand tools and machinery from sheet metal.

You will be making products using flat sheet, mainly Galvanised Steel, Stainless Steel, Mild Steel and Aluminium.

Duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Setting and operating CNC press brakes
  • Following all Health & Safety rules
  • Learn to operate all workshop equipment
  • Learn how to read engineers drawings
  • Learn which seams are required for each job and assemble ductwork
  • Cut, fit and fasten systems

You will be working in a fast paced and exciting role where we actively encourage all staff to have fun and enjoy their work while remaining productive and professional.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • You will complete the level 2 Engineering Operative apprenticeship with Petroc.
  • You will achieve a level 2 Certificate in engineering operations (knowledge)
  • Attendance to Petroc will be once a week during term-time. 

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

You will have the opportunity to progress onto running your own CNC lathes and Mills.

Things to consider

Must be physically fit and in good health as its a very hands on role. Site visits will be required so must be willing to meet clients and conduct themselves in a positive manner.

We carry out all aspects of engineering including sheet metal work, fabrication, CNC milling and turning and CAD design, predominantly serving the food and pharma industry.
