What will the apprentice be doing?

Provide professional and efficient admin support to the Supervising Fee Earner(s)

  • Have responsibility for the opening and closing of new clients/matters on the database.
  • Ensure work is completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Devise standard letters and documents on behalf of, and as agreed by, the Supervising Fee Earner.
  • Maintain orderly files and comply with filing procedures.
  • Ensure photocopying, archiving of files and documents, extraction of documents and other such duties are carried out in an efficient manner.
  • Deal with clients on the telephone and in person in a professional, courteous and efficient manner.
  • Provide admin support to other Fee Earners within the team as and when required.
  • To carry out any duties necessary to ensure the continued efficient operation of the office.

Key Skills, Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Secretarial skills, with the ability to type with high levels of accuracy.
  • Excellent ICT skills and the ability to demonstrate or gain a clear understanding of the firm’s in-house software systems.
  • Good organisational skills, a proactive approach to work, as well as the ability to prioritise and work to strict deadlines, whilst paying close attention to detail and accuracy (eg precise time recording).
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner, both in writing and verbally, including dealing with correspondence and telephone calls in a pleasant manner.
  • Ability to use initiative where required and work with minimal supervision.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Business Administrator Level 3

Where a business administrator has not already achieved Level 2 English and Maths, they must do so before taking the end-point assessment.

Location: Darlington Office

Including one day release for study at Darlington College (Times / Day TBC)

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

The employer would hope to offer a full time position following the successful completion of this apprenticeship.
