What will the apprentice be doing?

As this role is within a school environment it would also be subject to an enhanced DBS check.The successful candidate would be working along side the existing Facilities Team to learn all aspect of the role and responsibilities.

To assist in the efficient day to day maintenance of the school site, equipment, furniture, buildings and grounds.
To assist with maintenance of fire safety procedures, including maintenance of fire protection equipment, fire drills and alarm tests.
To assist with site security, both internal and external.
School bus duty
To monitor the schools defect reporting system and react accordingly
To comply with all aspects of health and safety including (but not exclusively) Fire Safety, Legionella, Asbestos, COSHH etc
Undertake emergency cleaning, basic maintenance and repair to maintain the fabric of the building and site services
Undertake routine porter duties, i.e. moving furniture & equipment
To assist with the mainTo assist with the maintenance of the school’s minibuses to ensure they comply with the necessary safety standards and cleanliness.
To assist with ensuring the premises are opened prior to the school day and closed after the school day as required / directed by the Facilities Manager
Flexible work pattern – depending upon the demands of the school
Any other relevant duties that may be reasonably requested

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Working towards the Level 2 Facilities Services Operative Apprenticeship standard.

This will be a mixture of on-the-job training and online learning. First Aid at Work qualification PASMA Various H&S training

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

At the end of the course the candidate could expect to be employed as part of the Facilities Team with the opportunity to potentially progress to Facilities Manager after further training.
