What will the apprentice be doing?

• Undertake the timely repair and servicing of customer vehicles in accordance with the companies technical standards.

• Conduct full examinations of vehicles and identify non-routine defects, or additional faults either in the workshop or during road tests.

• Undertake Electronic Vehicle Health Checks

• Work closely with the service team and ensuring they are kept informed of the progress of work on customer vehicles and they are fully briefed on work completed. Discuss technical issues/works with directly customers when requested.

• Provide a knowledgeable, courteous, responsive, and efficient service to all workshop customers

• Obtain appropriate authorization if additional work is required on a vehicle.

• Build and maintain a high level of technical competence for diagnosing and servicing vehicles and utilize regular training and support.

• Be open to try new methods of work designed to improve efficiency.

Full training will be provided by senior technicians, and management

 

Duties will include:

• Carrying out foundation tasks common to all service and repair procedures

• Contributing to a safe working environment

• Accessing information and utilize such as wiring diagrams and technical data

• Using complex diagnostic, mechanical and electrical measuring equipment

• Removing, repairing/replacing components to manufacturer’s specification

• Applying advanced diagnostic principles and logical problem solving techniques

• Warranty work

 

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Apprentices will stay onsite there will be no day release to college but will do 20% off the job training at the garage. 

Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Competence
Functional skills in maths, English and ICT (if required)
20% off the job training
