You will be an integral part of the team and as such should be an extremely well-organised, motivated & hardworking individual working both independently and as part of a team. You will also be required to assist with our hygienist appointments.

What will the apprentice be doing?
- Maintain patient records
- Keep all clinical areas, decontamination area & all equipment and instruments clean, tidy and sterile as appropriate
- Provide chair-side assistance, ensuring that the correct equipment is available
- Ensure the care and welfare of patients
- Assist in computer system administration
- Complete laboratory request forms, keep records of work sent, received and fitted
- Ensure adequate stocks of materials and other items within the surgery
- Liaise with reception & other staff members
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
An apprenticeship allows you to earn a wage, gain valuable work experience and industry specific competence. You will be expected to work towards the Dental Nurse (integrated) Apprenticeship Standard, with support from your employer and the Chesterfield College Group.
As part of your apprenticeship, and dependent on your prior attainment, you may be required to complete maths and English Functional Skills which is an integral part of your apprenticeship. Upon successful completion you will be awarded additional certificates of recognition for these qualifications.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Career progression is fully qualified dental nurse at a fully private practice, with scope to continue their CPD with additional courses in radiography, OHI, dental implant nursing or orthodontic nursing – depending on interests and aptitudes. Eventual progression to lead or senior nurse with additional non-clinical duties such as first line management of the nursing team, and clinical-related administration and compliance responsibilities.
