What will the apprentice be doing?

  • First line support (logging calls, troubleshooting/diagnosis, and resolution or escalation).
  • PC assembly and imaging.
  • PC maintenance.
  • General network support and basic troubleshooting (e.g. patching, replacing switches, etc.
  • Liaising with other team members to ensure that potential issues are raised and dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Handle technical inquiries from customers via phone and email.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Learners will receive a wide range of training. Whilst in the workplace, apprentices will also receive continual coaching, help, and guidance from a dedicated Skills Development Coach who will be there to ensure that they get the most from their work experience.

This apprenticeship will give you a Level 3 Infrastructure Technician Standard with training in areas such as:

  • Functional skills, Maths L2 and English L2
  • PC Fundamentals
  • Business Processes & Customer Services
  • Networking & Architecture
  • Mobile & Operating Systems
  • Cloud Services

Some of these modules will include an option to take an examination in order to receive a professional certificate.

GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade 4,5) Essential

Things to consider

IT NVQ , Degree or equivalent. A minimum of a 1 year course at either A level or B-Tec equivalent in computer science. Although experience would be advantageous, a desire to use transferrable skills and learn new systems is essential.

About the employer

An opportunity has arisen for an ambitious, motivated apprentice to join the support Team at King & Shaxson. You will be responsible for ensuring all users are able to carry out their day to day duties without hindrance by the firm’s IT systems. You will be responsible for screening newly raised IT support calls on the support system and applying the Core Principals in order to deliver satisfactory solutions.
