What will the apprentice be doing?

To attain the necessary engineering skills related to the servicing and repairs of the company’s asset hire fleet, through apprenticeship training, both at the designated workshop and at a designated training establishment. To assist with the service and repair of Dawsongroup sweepers specialist hire fleet equipment, acquiring new skills as necessary to become conversant with specialist vehicle repair and servicing and associated processes and procedures.

Candidates will have a good level of secondary education looking to establish and develop a career within the engineering sector.

You will also have a flexible and adaptable approach to work and be able to work well and take instructions.

As the public face of our business it is essential that you are presentable, professional and courteous at all times.


What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Apprentices will attend City of Bristol College four times a year for two week periods to work towards their VRQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair. An advisor will visit at least every six weeks as part of a close support network to ensure that Apprentices are both enjoying and succeeding in their course. An Apprentice’s training includes:

·         Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair

·         Technical Certificate – IMI Diploma Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair

·         Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

It may be possible to apply for a permanent position upon completion of the apprenticeship.
