What will the apprentice be doing?
Purpose of the job
Management to completion of all aspects of assigned projects under the guidance and supervision of the head of department in support of the objectives of the company's overall business plans and strategies.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Overall responsibility for all assigned project deliverables including but not limited to hardware, financial and commercial outputs, dispute management, customer satisfaction and on time delivery.Overall responsibility for assigned project profitability and accountability.
- Ensuring that assigned projects are launched in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensuring that timely client and internal kick off meetings are arranged and that all relevant project handover documentation is completed and distributed to relevant personnel.
- Developing and maintaining relationships and interfaces with other key functions within CSS and to support Supervision to drive all aspects of Engineering, Procurement and Production.
- Assist Supervision in providing timely customer quotations on established CSS projects that remain in line with prevailing financial objectives.
- Ensure that all relevant documentation is available for workshop activities.
- Process all project work through the current ERP system from customer masters and notifications through to job completion and invoicing ensuring timely completion of project milestones, adherence to budgets and that appropriate feedback is provided to colleagues.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers and suppliers in order to reduce commercial risk and to maximise future business opportunities.
- Provide effective communications to all internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist Supervision in the production of reliable invoicing, Gross Profit and Cash forecasts for assigned projects.
- Management of all aspects of project finances ensuring that all funds are expedited appropriately in accordance with forecasts for invoices and payments.
- Management of all aspects of assigned project related documentation (including Dossiers and O&M manuals) in order to facilitate timely project Close Outs.
- Management of project commercial close-outs in order to maximise cash flow and minimise exposure to financial penalty whilst maintaining customer relationships.
- Participate in and actively support company initiatives.
- Proactively engage and support company initiatives designed to promote a culture of safe working, environmental protection and continual improvement.
- Ensure your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by your acts or omissions.
- Co-operate with the requirements of the Environmental, Health, Safety, and Energy management systems.
- Co-operate with the company to enable it to discharge its own responsibilities effectively.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Engineering (Development Competence)
As an apprentice, you can expect to undertake work-based learning with an employer who will pay you a wage. Throughout the duration of your apprenticeship, you will attend college for one day per week.
The rest of your training will take place in-house at your workplace by your employer and a qualified assessor who will visit you on-site who will complete assessments and progress reviews.
