What will the apprentice be doing?
As a CNC machining engineering apprentice, this programme will form part of our succession planning for the future.
You will learn how to:
- Check materials before starting work
- Become competent using technical information
- Set up a range of workholding devices including chucks, fixtures and vices
- To programme, set and operate CNC machinery
- To complete milling and turning operations
- Adjust a range of machining parameters to produce products with a high degree of accuracy and finish
- Manufacture parts to a high degree of accuracy and finish
- Use a range of measuring equipment
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
You will be trained, supported and monitored throughout the process. When your formal CNC machining engineering apprenticeship starts you will be paid and day-released to PETA in Havant for the duration of your programme. This will start by learning how to work safely, efficiently and use technical information. You will also learn how to use manual lathes and Mills, CNC lathes and mills as well as use hand fitting and assembly skills. Additionally you will learn how to use Computer Aided Design systems and undertake improvement activities.
After a period of foundation skills and technical knowledge development all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications:
· Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
· Level 2 Diploma in Machining (Foundation Knowledge)
After a further period of skills and technical knowledge development all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications:
· Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) - Machining
· Level 3 Diploma in Machining (Development Knowledge)
Overall duration 48 months

We will provide other business related training outside of the apprenticeship role.
