What will the apprentice be doing?

Our Finance Apprentice is really important to our success and by assisting in finance activities as well as producing and analysing reports, you will be making a significant contribution to the business decision making process. In this role we will provide training on all our systems, and we want you to suggest and implement ways to improve our data collection and reporting tools.


As a PAM employee, you’ll also have the opportunity to get involved in other activities outside of your day to day role as we have a number of different working groups and are particularly keen on business improvement projects.

Duties in this role will include:

  • Provide administrative support to finance & supply chain e.g. Raising purchase orders and investigating invoice queries, calculating and validating customer rebate claims, preparation of journals and management accounts, calculating and reviewing financial stock provisions.
  • Collecting numerical data from different departments and helping to prepare reports.
  • Suggest ways to improve our data collection and reporting tools.
  • Become an expert on our in house reporting system.
  • Spend time to understand each of the roles within supply chain and finance.
  • Provide administrative support to finance & supply chain.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Accounts/Finance Assistant Apprenticeship Level 2 This level is ideal for existing staff or new talent in accounting and finance. Their work could include basic bookkeeping activities, working with sales and purchase ledgers, running calculations to ensure that records and payments are correct, recording of cash and data entry. Learners will complete the mandatory AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting. The Certificate in Accounting comprises of four exams and an End Point Assessment. You must successfully complete the following: Introduction to Bookkeeping (ITBK) Principles of Bookkeeping Control (POBC) Principles of Costing (PCTN) Business Environment (BESY) EPA - In Tray exercise Training will be provided by attending either face-to-face classroom based lessons, Live Online sessions or OnDemand. An apprenticeship has to be relevant to the job you are undertaking and you must dedicate 20% of your time towards it.
