What will the apprentice be doing?
- Scope of the Role:
-To provide support and assistance to skilled carpenters, including site preparation and clearance, and maintaining general tidiness. To perform general carpentry tasks as directed by the Carpentry Team whilst working towards an Apprenticeship Level and achieve the skills and experience to become a fully operational tradesperson. - Responsibilities:
-To assist in general carpentry and preparation as directed by the Carpentry Team to detailed specifications, drawings, standards and agreed time limits.
-To assist with storage, lifting, fetching supplies and unloading/checking of deliveries.
-To maintain accurate worksheets and records/documentation associated with your work.
-To undertake Health & Safety training and promote the highest Health & Safety Standards to ensure safe working environment.
-To assist in identifying hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair to ensure compliance with
agreed codes, law, working practices, health & safety, and the environment.
-To use authorised plant and equipment provided with due care and attention as supervised.
-To understand and be aware of the Company’s Quality Systems.
-To perform all other reasonable duties as requested by the Carpentry Team.
-To adhere to Company practices and procedures.
-To be aware of risk assessments and method statements relating to own work area and work in a safe manner taking into account other people’s health and wellbeing.
-To build and maintain good working relationships with all colleagues, customers, and managers to ensure effectiveness of the repairs and maintenance service.
-To ensure the promotion at all times of a professional Company and personal image.
-To maintain confidentiality of all Company information.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Working towards the Carpentry and Joinery Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard.
Day release to West Suffolk College.
Functional Skills in Maths and English will be studied if exemptions are not held.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
