What will the apprentice be doing?

Reception Duties

  • Taking incoming call & dealing with enquiries
  • Directing calls to fee earners and taking messages where applicable
  • Making & booking appointments using an online diary system
  • Liaising with clients by phone or face to face, scanning & attaching post
  • Taking cash & card payments and issuing receipts
  • Archiving files
  • Data entry
  • Letter writing
  • Registering wills
  • Using our case management system along with Microsoft packages
  • Maintaining, implementing or improving administration

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

An apprenticeship allows you to earn a wage, gain valuable work experience and industry specific competence. You will be expected to work towards the Business Administrator Apprenticeship Standard, with support from your employer and the Chesterfield College Group.
As part of your apprenticeship, and dependent on your prior attainment, you may be required to complete maths and English Functional Skills which is an integral part of your apprenticeship. Upon successful completion you will be awarded additional certificates of recognition for these qualifications.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

You will work upstairs along side a fee earner in the relevant department as a secretary, with the potential to progress into a paralegal role (subject to performance in this role).
