What will the apprentice be doing?
You will work alongside a Wickes Approved Installer and will be installing Wickes kitchens into our customers’ homes.
On a day to day basis the role includes preparing the site for assembly of furniture, measuring and marking materials to specification, assembly of furniture, cutting out work surfaces, applying edging tape, creating joints, and fitting mechanical or electrical components, developing and maintaining customer relations, identifying snags and carrying out any rectification work.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
We’re looking to recruit new colleagues on an 18 month contract to complete a Fitted Furniture Installer Level 2 Apprenticeship.
The apprentice will also spend 20% of their time at “off-the-job” training, some of which will be completed on ‘block release’. Off the job training hours are collated throughout the duration of the course with 18 hours per month on average to cover the courses 20% requirement.
The block release training is with our training provider Webs Training in Nottingham
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Installation of kitchens is a very skilled job and with new kitchen installations in demand, coupled with the recently identified skills gap of fewer Installers coming through.
There are many great careers to be had in this industry and opportunities for people in a sector that can be flexible around them, or give them the opportunity to create a small business.
