What will the apprentice be doing?

You will abide by and observe the regulations issued by FCA and other accounting bodies at all times.

With close mentoring support, the apprentice will be required to support the Finance function with support for both internal and external customers.


Bank Statement Reconciliations:

• Responsible for insurer statement reconciliations and following up on any discrepancies. 

• Recording of insurer cash receipts/payments within the client cashbook and also within the Finance system.

• Once settled and balanced, create payment advice documents to submit to insurers.

• Reconcile and balance accounts at Day/ Month End.

• Calculate commissions due to Franchisees based on Month End.


Premium Finance:

•  Process funding received from Close Brothers Premium Finance on the computer system.

•  Input finance on Blue Book Spreadsheet.

• Assist Premium Finance Manager with audit when required.


Credit Control:

•  Review Offices aged debtors.

•  Report any concerning debts to the Head of Accounts.

•  Produce and send credit control and aged debt reports to relevant persons.


Telephone Duties:

•  Answering incoming calls.

• Deal with queries on incoming calls if possible or transfer to the relevant person/department as required.


What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The successful applicant will receive comprehensive on the job training and mentoring support. They will also be given opportunities to gain training across the wider Jensten Group Finance operations.

Level 3 Assistant Accountant (AAT) Apprenticeship - the apprentice will be required to attend workshops at Cambridge campus weekly during term time and with regular assessments conducted by the College.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

For the right person, there may be a permanent position on successful completion of this Apprenticeship. We are proud to have people within the business still who began their careers in Insurance Broker Accounts and are now Qualified ACCA/CIMA accountants in senior finance roles.
