What will the apprentice be doing?
The Bagel Bar and The Yard based in Ely, have become popular as soon as they opened as the quality of our food is excellent and well as novel. We are looking to build on this success and expand, but only with the right people.
Job tasks:
1. With close mentoring support, to make and deliver exceptional quality food
2. Provide excellent customer service and build relationships with customers
3. Keep high standards of personal cleanliness and appearance
4. Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in the workplace
5. Work across the Silver Oak team to help ensure the smooth running of the business
6. Work with all team members to ensure great communication and efficient working
7. Adhere to all recipe and presentation standards
8. Report all equipment failure and hazards upon detection
9. Ensure stock rotation and wastage are kept to a minimum
10. Keep Food Safety knowledge up to date and conform to all health/food safety codes of practice and COSHH regulations
11. Participate in reviews and development as requested
12. Carry out duties as requested.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Level 2 Production Chef Standard
There will be on and off the job training and mentoring support by the employer. The position is for 5 days a week including a day release attendance at Cambridge campus.
The practical training period is the time dedicated to the development of the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours for your Apprenticeship which includes the following components;
Level 2 Production Chef Standard
Level 2 Award in Food Safety
Functional Skills Level 1 Maths and English (exemptions apply).
The apprentice would be assigned an assessor through the College, who would typically come out to visit in the workplace to assess workplace competence.
The knowledge side would be provided via an online portal and assignments/ evidence of work/ portfolio via an online Smart Assessor tool.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Full-time chef roles are available following successful completion of Apprenticeships. We are an expanding business and continuously invest in our teams.
