What will the apprentice be doing?
The role of IT Apprentice - Desktop Support Engineer will consist of being a first point of contact for customers who require IT support.
This position is extremely varied, but also very hands-on, suited to someone who enjoys fixing things and finding solutions to problems that may arise. You will assist with the troubleshooting hardware and software issues, upgrading, Installing, and maintaining computer peripherals.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
An apprenticeship allows you to earn a wage, gain valuable work experience and industry specific competence. You will be expected to work towards the Information Communications Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard, with support from your employer and the Chesterfield College Group.
As part of your apprenticeship, and dependent on your prior attainment, you may be required to complete maths and English Functional Skills which is an integral part of your apprenticeship. Upon successful completion you will be awarded additional certificates of recognition for these qualifications.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Initially this role will be a pivotal role reporting directly to the IT Systems and Process Coordinator. Providing 1st line support both in person and over the telephone. The role will progress to investigating, implementing and maintaining end user device components and systems. Ensuring that IT hardware all operates effectively, and that all software is up to date and relevant.
