What will the apprentice be doing?


·         Ensure all drivers are attended to when Goods In personnel are unavailable.

·         Assist with the loading and unloading of lorries, containers etc. as necessary.

·       To assist with the receiving of all incoming deliveries in accordance with specified procedures.  This includes palletised materials, parcels, letters, maintenance machinery/tools and consumables.

·       To correctly report all delivery complaints using the complaints database, ensuring all information, paperwork and photographic evidence are provided.



·       To support the efficient operation of the consumable stores.

·       To follow sampling and check weighing procedures for Material Colours and Raw Materials.

·         Accurately transfer stock in to the warehouse locations ensuring accuracy in JDE.

·         Maintain the highest level of stock accuracy, performing periodic cycle counts.

·         Assist with dispensary duties for the MTO and BCM departments, including batching up of all blends, packing and small packing schedules.



·         Help to prepare goods for dispatch in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring that they are packed and labelled correctly (adhering to special instructions as required), ensuring that shipments are packed and palletized in such a way as to allow safe transport.

·         Ensure that all labelling and pick list information correspond correctly.

·         Understand and support with Known Consignor Security requirement.



·         Operate material handling equipment in a safe and efficient manner (forklifts, pallet trucks, shrink wrappers etc).

·         Comply with all company policies, procedures and method work instructions.

·         Report any discrepancies, dangerous occurrences and damage immediately to the Logistics Supervisor (or in his absence, the MTO Plant Manager).

·        Carry out any other tasks as necessary to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the Logistics Department.

·         Adhere to 5S programme, ensuring all working areas including the warehouse, office area, canteen, and yard are kept safe, clean, tidy and free of debris. This includes the use of the yard sweeper across the whole site.

·         Engage in King’s Lynn Operational Excellence Programme, continuously seeking improved methods to better serve both internal and external customers.

·         Intermediate apprenticeship in Supply Chain Warehouse Operator

·         Monthly theory workshops at the College of West Anglia, King’s Lynn campus

·         1:1 support from a current industry assessor

·         Mentoring from both the assessor and employer

·         Support sessions from the tutor in the workplace

·         On going progress reviews throughout the duration of the apprenticeship

Things to consider

Please be aware that the working environment is within a manufacturing plant and involves working in the warehouse, goods in, despatch, plant, office and laboratory areas. This is a manual role that will require certified forklift, pallet & narrow aisle truck training during the course of the apprenticeship. Education & Experience: • Level 1 English (GCSE Level 4 or C) • Level 1 Maths (GCSE Level 4 or C) • IT – Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, ERP system (Desirable) Skills & Abilities: • Ability to work well within a team (Essential) • Good communication skills (Essential) • Fork Lift License will be required (Desirable as training will be provided by Sensient)
