What will the apprentice be doing?

  • To handle and dispose of waste material- chipper/ load logs onto lorry
  • To demonstrate a responsible attitude towards the use of personal and company equipment and maintain the equipment as instructed
  • To follow all company policy and guidance in order to ensure the health and safety welfare of yourself, colleagues, and all other persons
  • To follow all company policy and guidance in order to ensure that work does not adversely affect the environment
  • To support the crew in undertaking felling operations
  • To undertake pruning operations
  • To process branch wood/ round timber into appropriate sizes for disposal
  • To discuss works with clients on site ensuring works carried out are in line with client expectation and quotation specification
  • To support the crew in clearing sites before leaving and ensuring all company equipment is reloaded safely and neatly
  • To perform other duties that may be required by the Crew Leader or Operations Manager

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • The new employee will study at Plumpton College with other Apprentice Arborists - You will have access to the latest equipment and technology and tutors and work  with coaches with over 20+ years’ experience of working in the sector.
  • By studying a nationally recognised qualification, you have the opportunity to gain important certificates and tickets that will help build your career in the future.
  • In addition, there are opportunities to enter national climbing competitions, and discounts on a suite of college courses e.g. Level 2 Award in the Safe use of Pesticides.

Things to consider

The main office and yard is situated in a remote location and so consideration of travel to and from work is important.
