A butcher apprentice is required for our busy butchery within our farm shop in Godstone, Surrey. This is an ideal role for a student. Flexible hours & days, does involve some weekend work. We are an expanding business and are looking for keen and dynamic staff. Working within a small team of highly motivated staff.

What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Working with meat and poultry, cutting, prepping, breaking down animals
  • Serving customers
  • Maintaining and creating inviting displays and preparing & creating products
  • Upselling of products and cross-selling with farmshop. 

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Apprentices will attend Plumpton College one day a week. 

  • Knife skills - including cutting, boning, trimming and mincing of meat
  • Health and safety practices, food safety and hygiene and key legislation
  • Using butchery tools and machinery – including mincing, sausage making, bacon curing, vacuum packing
  • Business profitability, maximising productivity, efficiency and customer care
  • Team work and customer care skills
  • Specialist retail shop or processing plant butchery skills

  • Level 2 award in health and safety
  • Level 2 award in knife skills
