What will the apprentice be doing?

At the beginning of this apprenticeship, you will learn how to prep, bath and dry dogs ready for the groomer to carry out the required groom. You will learn about a variety of dog grooming products and will gain experience with dogs of all sizes, breeds and temperaments.

Full completion of this apprenticeship you will have the knowledge and skills to groom a variety of breeds and coat types.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You will have Level 2 in Dog Grooming. 

This apprenticeship is fully workplace based with occasional workshops at Kirkley Hall

Things to consider

This opportunity is open to all ages 16 years and over. You will be required to complete an initial assessment and diagnostic in maths and English as part of the recruitment process. If you do not have grades 9-4 or A-C in both subjects, you will work towards them as part of the apprenticeship. • You will be working with animals all day and be on your feet most of the time • You may encounter various temperaments of animal behaviour • Hard work in a warm environment, especially in summer months • Must be able to use initiative.
