The Maintenance Apprentice is to assist with the maintenance and repair of manufacturing equipment, infrastructure, and facilities with the opportunity for advancing into a qualified engineer. Essentra engineers and external training providers will support the development of the Apprentice while providing the efficient operation of plant machinery.

What will the apprentice be doing?
· Assisting in Maintaining all plant machinery to ensure safe, continual and efficient operations.
· Supporting the periodic and preventive maintenance regimes.
· Assisting with emergency troubleshooting and maintenance support.
· Achieving maintenance goals, activity scheduling and work completion to ensure manufacturing targets are continually achieved.
· Update records of work activities, tasks carried out, parts used through stores and instruction passed on between team members.
· Work closely with engineers in finding ways to improve processes and increase machine reliability and performance.
· Assist with specific projects within or outside the Engineering Department.
· Attending external training and development at a suitable institution, primarily on day-release basis, in order to gain an engineering qualification leading to a fully qualified Maintenance Engineer.
· Attending specialist internal training and development courses to complement the above qualification.

First principles relating to the operation and maintenance of appropriate plant and equipment. Relevant industry health and safety standards, regulations, and environmental and regulatory requirements. Maintenance and operational practices, processes and procedures covering a range of plant and equipment. The relevant engineering theories and principles relative to their occupation, Comply with industry health, safety and environmental working practices and regulations, Locate, and rectify faults on plant and equipment, Communicate with and provide information to stakeholders in line with personal role and responsibilities, Read, understand and interpret information and work in compliance with technical specifications and supporting documentation, Prepare work areas to undertake work related activities and reinstate those areas after the completion of the work related activities.
