What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Preparation of new and second-hand machinery for useage
  • Pre-delivery inspection of machinery carried out in accordance with manufacturer’s and employer’s procedures
  • Performing routine service and maintenance operations in line with employer’s instructions
  • Preparation of equipment for repair for example, cleaning, dismantling and reassembly of machinery and their component parts, this may be carried out under supervision or in accordance with procedures or written briefs
  • Conducting routine machine operation and systems testing
  • Clear up of workstation and workshop when required

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Training to be delivered at BCA based in Burchett’s Green
  • Delivery is day release into college
  • E-portfolio and regular Apprenticeship trainer visits in the workplace
  • Maths and English Functional Skills may be required as part of your programme dependent on GCSE results
  • Level 2 Land-based Service Engineer Apprenticeship qualification

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

A full time positon will be review upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.

Things to consider

This role is a practical, hands on role. You will be in a workshop but the doors might be open so it can get cold. You will need to be able to get onto your hands and knees at times.

About the employer

An established 18 hole Championship in Ascot which opened in 1991. The layout at Mill Ride Golf & Country Club was designed by Donald Steel in 1990 and it's one of the best new golf courses in prosperous Berkshire.
