What will the apprentice be doing?
This role will be an extremely varied position working in a manufacturing environment, the key responsibilities include:
- Wiring various panel boards from schematic diagrams and engineering drawings
- Building various steel work switchboards, including Schneider
- Prisma and CUBIC
- Assembling control panels including drilling, tapping and assembling trunking and din rail components
- Populating panels
- Building and wiring switch panels for commercial buildings and working to customer deadlines and expectations at all times
- Interpreting the drawing received from the engineer following customer approval
- Checking the drawing to ensure all stock is available for project scheduled
- Building the frame, mounting of boxes and fitting of switches
- Using copper and making up of switches and necessary wiring required for the job i.e. metering
- Working with other staff members when co-ordinating large customer projects
- On site work - installing panels at customer location. This includes bolting panels together, copper bars being connected and wiring installed and connected, flash/meggar testing carried out for customer approval before completion
- To attend customer site to fit additional switches and metering at customer request
- Uprating copper to support increased switches
- Carry out on site modifications as required All other duties as required that are considered to be a reasonable request
