What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Supporting the credit control department by e.g. issuing Sales invoices to customers, daily cash allocation, contacting customers for payment dates, following up invoice queries etc.
  • Supporting the payroll department with various tasks, e.g. preparing spreadsheets for Umbrella companies, preparing invoices for Permanent placements, entering timesheet information, reconciling self-bill information received from customers to the payroll records etc.
  • Supporting the Management Accounts team with various tasks, e.g. monthly activity and reconciliation of required nominal accounts, recording purchase invoices and preparing them for timely payment, resolving purchase ledger queries etc.
  • General office administration e.g. filing, answering telephone queries and directing them to the appropriate team member etc.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Working towards completing level 2 Accounts or Finance Assistant Apprenticeship Standard. Attendance at Hertford regional College one day per week to achieve AAT Foundation certificate in accounting (Level 2).

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

There will be opportunities to undertake other aspects of finance and accounting within the department, e.g. accounts administration, purchase ledger etc.
