What will the apprentice be doing?

Developing a passion for learning within a caring community is the heart of our Foundation vision. Speech, language and communication form a key part of our Foundation and Key Stage 1 offer. Child initiated play set within our education provision links our curriculum offer.

The school has strong links with the local community.

  • To work in EYFS to provide close supervision for 1:1 and small group work
  • Undertake agreed activities
  • Prepare resources
  • Support class teacher lead and work with the EYFS team to ensure needs of all the children are being addressed
  • A willingness to share ideas and contribute to the development of the whole school
  • Willingness to support or lead a group/club at lunchtime or after school

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

At the end of your apprenticeship you will have achieved a nationally recognised qualification and gained valuable work experience that could provide a range of openings for your chosen career.

Over the 15-18-month Level 3 Teaching Assistant apprenticeship standard, you will work towards the following:

Behaviours, Skills, and Knowledge
Level 1/2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
End-Point Assessment (EPA)
You will have regular visits at the workplace from a designated assessor to observe your progress and competence in the role you are carrying out.

Training days will take place at Plymouth Arygle. 

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

There may be the potential for full-time employment upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, for the right candidate.
