Set out the first row of bricks, ensuring the courses are straight & level. Learning about mortar, how to mix and apply to the bricks, shaping/trimming bricks, health & safety involved with working at height and on site.

What will the apprentice be doing?
- Measuring the work area and setting out the first row of bricks and the damp course.
- Mixing mortar
- Laying bricks on top of each other and applying mortar with a trowel.
- Shaping and trimming bricks
- Ensuring the work is level
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
The apprenticeship training is delivered through a combination of workplace learning and day release college attendance. This training will teach you the knowledge, skills and behaviours set out in the Bricklayer L2 standard. On completion the apprentice will receive Bricklayer NRQ L2 qualification. Functional Skills in Maths and English may also be required depending on current level.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Within Taylor Wimpey there can be progression to a Management Trainee, i.e Site Management
