What will the apprentice be doing?
•Answering the telephones - Dealing with enquiries, making appointments, taking repeat prescriptions over the telephone and booking home visits
•Filing - Correspondence from hospitals including reports from tests etc.
•Typing - Referrals letters to hospitals, confidential reports and other letters as requested
•Scanning - All hospital letters and other insurance reports and filing into the System One Computer
•Audit assistant - Dealing with all the letters from solicitors and photocopying medical records and attending the entire practice meeting
•Any other duties as required by the Doctor and the Primary Care Trust
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Successful completion will lead to a Customer Service Practitioner level 2 apprenticeship standard.
You will attend the NBC centre (HD1) for day release, once every 2 weeks, to complete knowledge sessions for your apprenticeship.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Progression into higher administrative role within the surgery, working alongside the practice manager with the opportunity to undertake a level 3 apprenticeship.
