What will the apprentice be doing?

Work with pupils with special educational needs.
To follow safeguarding procedures and ensure the well-being of all

Establishing good relationships with pupils encouraging them to interact
with others and engage in activities whilst being aware of individual needs.
Work with individuals or small groups of pupils in the classroom under
the direct supervision of teaching staff and provide feedback by annotating children’s work and verbally to the teacher.

Support pupils in using basic ICT.
Support pupils to understand instructions, support independent learning and inclusion of all pupils, promoting the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.

Supporting the teacher in managing pupil behaviour, reporting
difficulties/ progress / achievements as appropriate.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Level 3 Teaching assistant apprenticeship
Maths & English level 2 if not already achieved.
Appts with apprentice, employer & provider, observations of workplace as well as gathering evidence.
Undertake self-assessment in last month of apprenticeship. The self-assessment must be submitted to the end point assessor as a source of evidence to prepare for End Point Assessment which will include a showcase portfolio; a project, employer reference & interview about the portfolio and project.
