What will the apprentice be doing?

  • To contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of Grotech Production Limited. 
  • Appreciate and support the role of others.
    Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required.
  • Work with colleagues in the Engineering Team to repair machinery which has been reported as "broken down” in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that any repairs carried out are documented and communicated to the relevant staff members.
  • Work with Engineering colleagues, Production Team Leaders and Operators to provide engineering solutions to facilitate improved production performance.
  • Work with other non-Operational departments to ensure that any maintenance requirements are resolved.
  • Work on projects assigned to you to improve knowledge and increase experience.
  • Keep Engineering workshop and external storage areas clean and tidy
  • Playing an active part in site Health & Safety
  • Keep a documented record of projects and work completed/in progress.
  • Work with mentor to identify additional training opportunities to increase knowledge of manufacturing operations and equipment.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Level Two Engineering Operative Apprenticeship
  • The successful candidate will be expected to attain a number of external vocational qualifications throughout their career with the company.
  • There will also be the chance to obtain Functional Skills in Mathematics and English if required.
  • Training will take place at employer's location in Goole.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

It is anticipated that on successful completion of the companies training program the right candidate will be qualified to progress to Team Leader level and be involved in all aspects of operations and health & safety management.

Founded in 1977 as Protech Formulations Ltd, Grotech Production Ltd was established in 2002 to further develop Protech’s business as a specialist formulator and packer to the agrochemical industry. In 1980 Protech Formulations moved to Goole, East Yorkshire, where it operated from a 10,000 sq. ft. factory, with additional warehousing space nearby. In 2005 Grotech Production constructed a purpose-built 12,000 sq ft factory at Britannia Road, Goole whilst retaining the original Larsen Road premises as a warehouse. Grotech have manufacturing capacity in solids blending, granulation and repacking and also in liquids formulation, filling and packing, and can accommodate various packaging variants and a range of delivery options from courier to next day pallet delivery in the UK and export shipping containers. We provide a facility for the manufacture of new products for companies in the nursery development phase. We can use the client’s specifications or work with their R&D team to develop a fit for purpose solution to meet the need.
