What will the apprentice be doing?
The Financial Crime Apprentice’s primary objective, under the supervision of the Financial Crime Officer, will be to assist the Lockton UK and International business in implementing their Financial Crime objectives. This role will be the main point of contact for sanctions screening alert clearance and maintenance of screening system(s) within the Lockton business.
The Risk and Compliance function continues to grow and develop, meaning there will always be scope for progression, which will be based upon the performance and motivation of the successful candidate.

The key tasks and responsibilities in the role include:
- Maintain the Lockton sanctions screening system for the UK and International Business Units, clearing alerts under guidance of the Financial Crime Officer.
- Working with Business Units and Financial Crime Team to provide accurate, timely and consistent advice and guidance to operational staff.
- Undertaking and managing (either personally or with others) financial crime projects or tasks.
- Co-ordinating the gifts and entertainment returns and management of queries for all Business Units.
- Identifying breaches of company policy surrounding the G&E returns.
- Administer the sanctions screening system for the UK and International Business.
- Act as approver for low risk third party payments.
Working with the Financial Crime Officer to:
- Ensure policies, guidance and training providing consistency across Lockton.
- Assist in the production of management information required to build reports for the Financial Crime Committee.
- Help to identify any areas of concern or areas for review/update to Financial Crime Policies, business procedures, training initiatives and the like and escalate/action accordingly.
- Through research of rules and supporting literature, maintain own knowledge of Financial Crime standards appropriate to the general insurance industry.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
You will work towards your:
- Compliance Risk Officer L3 (Financial Crime).
- Cert Level CII.
- Functional Skills in Maths and English (if required).
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Permanent position from day one.
Once the apprenticeship programme is competed, we’ll support and encourage career development within your division, or elsewhere in the wider Lockton business.
