An Apprentice Accountant is required to assist other employees in providing support to clients. You will receive training in the role working as a full member of our team becoming a permanent employee, not solely an apprentice, after an initial probationary period.

What will the apprentice be doing?

Tasks are quite varied and will change at different times of year or stages of progression. 

The core of the job will develop to include:

  • VAT and other bookkeeping work
  • Payroll
  • Accounts preparation and
  • Personal tax returns

We have a large variety of clients as well as a specialism in farmers and other agricultural businesses.

The successful candidate will be expecting good A level results and show the necessary attitude to work in a professional office. 


What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Apprentices will be required to take 

  • AAT Foundation Certificate in accounting (Level 2) followed by AAT Advanced Diploma in accounting (Level 3)

Location: Darlington

The apprenticeship will include one day release for study at Darlington College (day/times TBC) starting at level 2 AAT and progressing through to level 3.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

The successful candidate will join our team on a full time permanent basis.

We expect them to follow our previous apprentices by progressing beyond level 3 AAT to level 4 and full membership.
