What will the apprentice be doing?

The aim of the apprenticeship program with Manthorpe Engineering is to train people to become skilled machinists within their chosen field who can then build a successful career within the company.

To achieve this the apprentice will be paired with an experienced machinist who will ensure their skills and knowledge are developed alongside their college based training.

You will learn all aspect of CNC machining including:

  • Drilling
  • Milling
  • Turning

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Level 3 Engineering Technician (pathway 9 - Machinist) apprenticeship standard, including Functional Skills if required.

This programme includes the advanced Manufacturing and engineering Diploma and the Diploma in machining.

This programme is delivered on a day release model at our engineering innovation centre in NG17 (term time only).

You will work with expert assessors to develop new knowledge, skills and behaviours within the profession. You will experience a blended learning model. You will gather learning evidence, journals and off-the-job records using your e-portfolio.
At the end of the planned learning period, it will be agreed that you are ready to enter 'Gateway' and for your End Point Assessment to be arranged.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Your skills as a machinist will be kept up to date throughout your career using various training methods which may include further apprenticeship programmes at higher levels
