What will the apprentice be doing?

Weekly duties will include:

  • Assisting Teachers in preparing lesson materials & school equipment
  • Setting the classroom ready for lessons & clearing away afterwards to maintain a safe & clean environment
  • Recording & reporting pupil's progress to the Teacher
  • Helping pupils stay focused during class hours
  • Supervising group activities & outings
  • Helping Teachers manage student behaviour
  • Looking after children who are unwell or upset
  • Providing a healthy & safe learning environment for all students

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • The qualification being undertaken will be Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship, all training will take place on site in the workplace.

As well as ensuring full competency as a Teaching Assistant, this standard provides a foundation for potential progression into a number of career paths in the Educational sector including Higher Level Teaching Assistant, Assistant Teacher and Teacher.

Things to consider

An Enhanced DBS check will be needed for the successful candidate(paid for by the school) After the completion of a successful 6 months probation period the wage will rise to NMW.
