What will the apprentice be doing?

  • To assist with the building of medical supply chillers
  • To help with the refurbishment of refrigeration chillers used in the vending industry
  • Installation
  • Commissioning
  • Testing
  • Fault diagnostics
  • Rectification of systems
  • Component/refrigerant suitability and selection

All training for the above will be given by our existing, experienced and qualified engineers.
The successful candidates will be supervised at all times.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Level 3 Refrigeration Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Technician apprenticeship standard, including Functional Skills if required.

This programme is delivered on a day release delivery model, requiring one college attendance day per week (term time).

This programme includes the Level 2 Certificate in F Gas and ODS Regulations Category 1” as this is a legal requirement under the EU F Gas Regulation 517/2014 to work on equipment containing Fluorinated Refrigerants.

You will work with expert assessors to develop new knowledge, skills and behaviours within the profession. You will experience a blended learning model. You will gather learning evidence, journals and off-the-job records using your e-portfolio.
At the end of the planned learning period, it will be agreed that you are ready to enter 'Gateway' and for your End Point Assessment to be arranged.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

As a technician, it is vital that your skills and knowledge are kept up to date at all times. We will encourage and facilitate this by using various training methods throughout your career including short courses, manufacturers training, e-learning and apprenticeship that are relevant to the role.
