What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Scribbles is a standalone private full day nursery. Our ethos is to give children in our care, love, fun and opportunities, and to lead by example in their development.

  • To work as part of a team and be supportive of one another, behaving in a professional manner. They will form good relationships with other team members and families of the nursery.

  • As an apprentice you are encouraged to work as part of the nursery team to gain as much practical experience as possible throughout the duration of your course.

  • Your daily duties will include but not be limited to;

     

  • To support qualified staff with daily routines in the nursery.

  • To learn the skills of a early years practitioner, working practically as part of a team.

  • To learn how to provide high quality childcare to our children.

  • To show commitment to achieving the apprenticeship in the agreed timeframe.

  • Ensure health, safety and wellbeing of the children.

  • To ensure you attend all the training courses and staff meeting as required.

  • To complete and submit work to agreed timelines.

  • To work with all age groups.

  • To never be left unsupervised with the children.

  • Demonstrate a proactive approach using your initiative and showing resilience to take responsibility in getting things done.
    To learn, understand and implement the Scribbles Day Nursery policies and procedures within the nursery.

  • To understand the values and principles of the early years sector and implement in your daily routine with the children.

  • To follow the Early Years Foundation Framework when caring for our children and keep up to date with changes in the framework.

  • To contribute/complete children’s observations and records.

  • Ensure you work as part of a team towards a common goal sharing ideas and feedback to create consistency.

  • To understand and promote the ethos of the company and uphold the highest standards of childcare.

  • Drive own development through active participation in progress reviews, appraisals, one to ones and requesting supervisions when required.

  • Take a bold approach to your on and off the job training.
    In house training and appropriate e learning courses.

  • To arrive in the nursery and for training following the correct company uniform every day-see employee handbook for details.

  • To be a reliable member of the team.

     

  • The interview process will involve an interview followed by an activity with a group of children.

  • Salary is National Minimum Wage depending on age;
    16-17 = £4.81
    18-20 = £6.83
    21-22 = £9.18
    23+ = £9.50
