What will the apprentice be doing?
Bedestone specialise in Conventional / CNC Jig Grinding and has over 40 years experience in providing precision grinding to a number of businesses and industries across Birmingham and the UK.
We are keen to recruit two apprentice to work as trainee Machine setter / operators. In this varied role you will be required to work on a variety of machines and use a range of tools including:
- Jig grinding
- Universal grinding
- Wire erosion processes
- CMM quality checking machines
- Manual and CNC machines
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Level 3 Engineering Technician Machinist Standard Apprenticeship Qualification.
Full training will be provided on an ongoing daily basis and when required. You will be required to attend Dudley College premises, at our Advance campus in Dudley, 2 days per week. An assessor will be allocated to you to progress/help you through you course. Continual assessments coupled with assignments/or exams depending on course of study. Time spent training will be part of the agreed contracted hours of the working week.
At the end of your training you will sit an exam and submit course work as part of your assessment, and you will receive a Level 3 qualification.
After a period of foundation skills and technical knowledge development you will achieve the following qualifications:
Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
Level 2 Diploma in Machining (Foundation Knowledge)
After a further period of skills and technical knowledge development you will achieve the following qualifications:
Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) - Machining
Level 3 Diploma in Machining (Development Knowledge)
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
After successful completion of this apprenticeship there will be a full-time position with progression to HNC level.
