What will the apprentice be doing?

Duties will include:

  • Learning and understanding the purpose of a childcare setting
  • Ensuring children are looked after
  • Enabling an active routine, promoting happiness and fullfilment
  • Tending to their physical needs throughout the day
  • Helping children develop social and practical skills

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Core Components:

  • Diploma in Children's Learning and Development (Early Years Educator) (QCF) Level 3
  • Early Years Educator Personal Attributes and Behaviours
  • BTEC Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid
  • EPA Preperation

Subject to Prior Attainment:

  • Functional Skills English Level 2
  • Functional Skills maths Level 2

Once you have successfully completed your apprenticeship our intention is to further develop your career prospects through continued internal and external training and support towards any pathway you wish to take under working in childcare.

About the employer

Kids R Us is based in Leytonstone, London. Kids R Us is located in an extremely spacious church hall, which is split into three age groups, pre-school, toddlers and babies. Kids R Us offers integrated play between pre-school and toddlers due to mixed class sessions. Babies have a separate classroom. Kids R Us has a fantastic natural outdoor area encouraging the children to develop upon their exploratory skills. Exploration of nature is encouraged by the practitioners and facilitated by the trees and environment around Kids R Us. There is also an outdoor sensory room which complements the outdoor area greatly. Kids R Us Nursery also offers a holiday, breakfast and after school club for children up to the age of 8 years.
