What will the apprentice be doing?

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities (but not limited to):
1. Precision machining of aerospace components to tight tolerances using appropriate methods; lathes, honing, drilling, turning, reaming
2. Self-inspection of work and completion of Quality Control documentation
3. Involvement in Continuous Improvement activities to improve the manufacturing process
4. Demonstrate and advance safe and environmentally responsible working practices

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Level 3 Engineering Technician apprenticeship standard, including Functional Skills if required.

You will follow pathway 9 - Machining.

This apprenticeship includes Advanced Manufacturing Engineering ( Foundation Competence Dip L2) and the Machining (Foundation Knowledge) Diploma L2.

You will work with expert assessors to develop new knowledge, skills and behaviours within the profession. You will experience a blended learning model. You will gather learning evidence, journals and off-the-job records using your e-portfolio.


At the end of the planned learning period, it will be agreed that you are ready to enter 'Gateway' and for your End Point Assessment to be arranged.

Upon successful completion of this programme, the employer will want to ensure that your knowledge and skills are kept up to date at all times. They will encourage you to take part in various training updates that may include Higher apprenticeships.
