What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Summarising client’s manual records on excel spreadsheets
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Using existing administrative systems
  • Greeting clients who attend for meetings
  • Answering the telephone when required

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Working towards Level 2 Finance/Assistant Apprenticeship Standard. The apprentice will attend Hertford Regional College one day per week to achieve AAT Foundation certificate in accounting (Level 2). 

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

On completion, the apprentice will be able to apply for the appropriate level of professional membership aligned with this apprenticeship, dependent on the qualification chosen. There will be opportunities for progression (level 3 Assistant Accountant) and a permanent position subject to performance.

Things to consider

A driving licence would be useful as the office is located in a village with limited public transport. A good proportion of the work is computer based.
