What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Hedge Cutting, Lawn Treatments, Mowing, Bed Work, Sports Ground Maintenance, Shrub Maintenance & Pruning & Weed Control

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • You will attend Berkshire College of Agriculture on a day release programme weekly where you will partake in theory based sessions
  • First Aid course and Pa theory of spraying pesticides is part of the course
  • Level 2 Diploma in Landbased Horticulture on completion of Apprenticeship
  • Functional skills in English & Maths unless exempt
  • An assessor will visit you in the work place every eight weeks

Things to consider

This role requires you to be prepared to work outdoors in all weathers, all year round. This is a physical role and heavy lifting will be required. You will sometimes have direct contact with clients so need to be polite and approachable at all times, with a professional attitude.

About the employer

An established garden design and build company, in the horticulture business for 35+ years. We have our own in house garden designer and the owner has had several roles as Head Gardener on large estates before running his own company, as well as working abroad.
